Amarex specialises in CNC machining of special alloys – Monel 400, Inconel, Hastelloy and duplex steels – for aerospace, marine, chemical and energy applications. We machine adapters, bonnets, precision fittings, threaded parts and deep-drilled tubes to tight tolerances, with burr-free finishes and ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management (Mumbai office).
Special alloys we machine
Special Alloys We Machine
Exotic alloys exist because ordinary metals fail – in heat, chlorides, acids or fatigue. Each family below solves a specific failure mode; we machine all of them to customer drawings.
Other high-performance grades (cupro-nickel, Alloy 20) machined on request.
Machining Exotic Alloys – Threading & Deep Drilling Expertise
Special alloys work-harden, gall and destroy tooling when machined like ordinary steel. Our processes are set up for them: rigid setups, alloy-specific speeds and tooling, complex threading in metric, UN-series, BSP and taper forms, and deep drilling of tubes and hollow sections – operations that are difficult in exotic alloys but delivered consistently at Amarex.
- CNC turning & milling – alloy-specific parameters for work-hardening materials
- Complex threading – metric, UN-series, BSP and taper threads, gauged
- Deep drilling – tubes and hollow sections drilled true in exotic alloys
- Burr-free finishing – clean edges and surfaces on delivered components
Special alloy components are CNC machined from certified stock – no casting or forging claims.
| Alloy family | Key properties | Typical applications |
|---|---|---|
| Monel 400 | Seawater and acid corrosion resistance (Ni-Cu) | Marine fittings, pump and valve components |
| Inconel | High-temperature strength and oxidation resistance (Ni-Cr) | Energy, exhaust and heat-zone components |
| Hastelloy (incl. X) | Survives aggressive chemical environments (Ni-Mo) | Chemical processing fittings and parts |
| Duplex | Strength + chloride stress-corrosion resistance | Offshore, marine and energy hardware |

- Valve and instrumentation components in exotic alloys
How We Machine Special Alloys
Special alloys work-harden as you cut them, so the machining strategy matters more than the machine. Monel 400 and Inconel are machined at controlled speeds and feeds with a constant chip load, because dwelling in the cut is what hardens the surface and destroys both the tool and the tolerance.
Finished features are held to +/-0.01 mm (10 microns), with third-party verification available from Government-approved NABL laboratories where the application demands it.
Grade confirmation
material verified against certificate before the first cut.
Tooling and parameter set
speeds, feeds and tool geometry chosen for the specific alloy.
CNC turning and milling
continuous, controlled passes to avoid work hardening.
In-process inspection
dimensions checked during the run, not only at the end.
Finishing
deburring, passivation and any specified treatment, which is in our scope.
Final inspection
calibrated dimensional check and material verification before dispatch.
Special Alloy Machining Process
Monel and Inconel work-harden the moment a cut hesitates. Parameters are set per alloy and the cut is kept continuous, with dimensions checked during the run rather than only at the end of it.
Grade verified against the material certificate before the first cut
Speeds, feeds and tool geometry set for the specific alloy
Continuous, controlled CNC passes to avoid work hardening
In-process and final inspection on calibrated instruments before dispatch
Why Choose Amarex for Special Alloy Machining
Special alloy parts are usually low volume and high consequence: the component is going into a corrosive, high-temperature or safety-critical duty where a substitution is not acceptable. What matters is that the grade is genuinely what the certificate says, and that the machining has not compromised it.
Why These Alloys – Choosing the Right One
Alloy selection is failure-mode selection. A one-line guide our customers use as a starting point; our team advises on specific grades against your service conditions.
- Seawater or acid exposure – Monel 400 resists corrosion where brass and steel pit
- Continuous high temperature – Inconel holds strength where steels soften
- Aggressive chemistry – Hastelloy survives acids and oxidisers
- Chloride stress corrosion – duplex steels protect offshore hardware
Proven track records
Proven track record in Monel 400 and Inconel - these are the grades we machine regularly.
Work-hardening control
Work-hardening controlled by parameter selection, not corrected after the fact.
Material verification
Material verified against certificate before machining begins.
Tolerances
Tolerances of +/-0.01 mm (10 microns) held on corrosion-critical features.
Independent proof
third-party test reports from Government-approved NABL laboratories on request.
Low-volume and prototype
Low-volume and prototype quantities accepted, machined to your drawings.
