Amarex manufactures precision machined castings for global OEMs, combining foundry-grade cast components with CNC machining accuracy. Sand castings, investment (lost wax) castings and shell-moulded castings in brass, bronze, gunmetal, aluminum, stainless and alloy steel are turned, threaded, drilled and finished to exact dimensional requirements.
Machined Castings
Casting Types & Materials We Machine
The casting route decides surface quality, tolerance and cost; the material decides service life. The table below shows the combinations we supply most, machined to final dimension in-house.
Non-ferrous casting focus: brass, bronze and gunmetal castings machined for valve, electrical and marine applications.
| Casting type | Materials | Typical parts |
|---|---|---|
| Sand casting | Brass, bronze, gunmetal, aluminum | Valve bodies, marine hardware, line fittings |
| Investment / lost wax casting (in our scope) | Stainless steel, alloy steel, brass | Precision fittings, complex thin-wall parts |
| Shell-moulded casting | Alloy steels, non-ferrous alloys - brass, gunmetal, bronze and aluminium bronze | Railway and industrial components |
Machined Cast Components We Supply
Typical precision machined castings we deliver, to customer drawings and standards:
- Valve bodies and valve component castings in brass, bronze and gunmetal
- Electrical substation parts and overhead line fittings
- Marine hardware and deck components
- Railway and locomotive assemblies
- Pipe fittings and threaded cast connectors
- Stainless steel casting components for industrial service
From Foundry to Finished Part - Our Machining Process
A raw casting is only half the component. Every casting we supply is CNC machined – turning, threading, drilling and finishing – so sealing faces seal, threads gauge correctly and mounting dimensions land inside tolerance. Castings are inspected, machined to drawing, then dimensionally verified before dispatch.
Casting verification
Incoming inspection and material certification for every lot
CNC machining
turning, milling, threading and drilling of all critical features
Thread accuracy
Gauged threads on cast bodies, adapters and fittings
Final inspection
Calibrated dimensional verification and inspection reports
Casting to Finished Part Process
A raw casting is only half the component. Our own routes are sand casting and shell moulding, and every casting we supply is machined on its critical features before it is called finished.
Sand cast and shell moulded in brass, gunmetal, bronze and aluminium bronze
Incoming casting inspection and material certification for every lot
All critical features CNC turned, milled, threaded and drilled
Gauged threads and calibrated dimensional verification with inspection reports
Why Choose Machined Castings
Castings deliver complex geometry economically; machining delivers the precision castings cannot. Together they suit components where shape complexity and exact fitment must coexist.
Complex geometry
Internal passages and contours impossible from bar stock
Material economy
Near-net shapes cut material waste and cost at volume
Machined precision
Critical faces, bores and threads finished to tight tolerance
Material range
Brass, bronze, gunmetal, aluminum, stainless and alloy steels
Proven reliability
Corrosion-resistant castings for safety-critical service

Frequently Asked Questions
A machined casting is a cast component – sand, investment or shell-moulded – that is then CNC machined so critical faces, bores and threads meet exact dimensional tolerances the casting process alone cannot achieve.
Sand castings and shell-moulded castings, which are our own routes, plus investment (lost wax) and die castings within our scope, in brass, bronze, gunmetal, aluminum, stainless and alloy steels – all machined in-house.
Our own casting routes are sand casting and shell moulding, which is where we focus. Investment casting is available within our scope where a part genuinely requires it.
Yes – brass, bronze, silicon and Aluminium Bronze, gunmetal castings are a core strength, machined for valve, electrical, marine and railway applications.
Yes. Alloy steel and stainless steel casting components are supplied, machined, inspected and certified for industrial and railway service.
Every casting lot is inspected with material certification verified, machined to drawing, then dimensionally verified with calibrated instruments before dispatch.
